After I did my first 100k, decided I wanted to take running to the next level. Working with Zach definitely helped me achieve that.Just within a year of contacting him, I PRed on my marathon, 50k, 100k times and just recently finished 5th on 200km race. He also helped me figure out my nutrition and now I feel much more confident on what I need and do not need at a race. Whether you are just starting to run, or have more experience, Zach is the guy to help you take running to the next level.

Since working with Zach I was able to drop my 50k road PR from 4:04 to
3:24, my 50mile trail PR from 7:23 to 6:49 and qualified for the US 100k team¹s selection pool by running a 7:17100k.    There is no doubt that his direction for both training and diet
were critical in my development.

Zach designed race-specific programs for my personal goals and I was really impressed how accessible he was for questions and input along the way.  I have no hesitation in recommending his coaching services!

Finally, after years of searching for a structured yet adaptable approach, Zach jumped in with a coaching strategy that maximizes my training while keeping me fresh and motivated. His daily review of every workout allows him to adjust on the fly. Whether preparing for your first ultra, marathon, 5k, or looking to push past previous performances, Zach is a splendid choice to help you reach your goals!

Zach has always been responsive and works collaboratively to help you reach your goals - Whether you have a question about training load or need guidance on setting realistic expectations, he's consistently thoughtful and super helpful with his advice. He went above and beyond to customize my plan and made adjustments along the way to accommodate all my random requests. Thanks so much, Zach!

Zach helped me achieve my marathon pr. I took 25 seconds per mile off my pace.  I also crushed the Boston Marathon qualifying standard, and even beat the qualifying standard for the next lowest age group.  Working with Zach produced the most injury free running period of my adult life, while also producing amazing improvements.  Zach provides awesome, evidence based advice on everything ranging from nutrition, fitness, injuries, and mental approach.

Zach Bitter

My running journey started early in life. My first race was a 1 mile run in PE class, where I completed it in 7 minutes 30 seconds. I didn’t know it at the time, but it planted a seed in my mind to become a life long runner. This led me to participate in track and cross country in both high school and college, before exploring the world of ultra marathons professionally. This has allowed me to personally explore a wide range of endurance distances. Over my career, I have held both World and American Records, participated on the Team USA World 100km Team on three occasions, and won National Championships for 50 miles, 100 kilometers, and 100 miles. One of my favorite races of my career was breaking the two World Records for 100 miles and distance run in 12 hours in 2019. My 100 mile time was 11 hours 19 minutes 13 seconds, and 104.88 miles in 12 hours. As a coach, I have been able to work with people of all ages, from middle school all the way up to 60+ year old runners. I have worked with people at a wide range of distances, from 800 meters all the way up to multiday ultramarathons on a variety of terrains, including road, track and trail.
